Meeting Schedule for 2010 - 2011:
Meetings have been scheduled to fall on the week after the CDE's Regional Assessment Network meetings and will be held at either TCDE or Shasta COE from 9:00 a.m. to noon, with some afternoon work as needed.

Major Projects 2010 - 2011:
  • The completion, promotion, use, and refinement of the Region 2 data analysis protocol.
  • The discussion and dissemination of the Region 2 Assessment Notes publication, following each Regional Assessment Network (RAN) meeting and other statewide assessment events.
  • The promotion and use of the RAN’s four-part training series: “Understanding and Using Assessment and Accountability Data to Support Student Achievement.”

Mission Statement:
To support the goals of NERCC as we work together to assist schools and districts understand current accountability and assessment information, and to use data - both formative and summative - in support of student achievement.

Vision - The Region 2 Assessment Committee will

  • Collaborate to enhance each member's capacity to work with schools and districts;
  • Provide technical support to schools and districts as they review and use formative and summative assessment data;
  • Develop consistent data articulation protocols and data analysis templates to facilitate school, district, county, and regional use of assessment data;
  • Research and share assessment and accountability resources among all nine Region 2 counties;
  • Discuss, clarify, and highlight topics reviewed at the bi-monthly Regional Assessment Network meetings;
  • Disseminate critical assessment and accountability resources;
  • Facilitate ETS workshops in each county via videoconference;
  • Provide assistance to NERCC, and to sub-committees and liaisons of NERCC, that are working to use assessment and accountability data in decision-making processes.

Values/Commitments of Region 2 Assessment Committee Members -
WE WILL:

  • Meet following each scheduled Regional Assessment Network meeting (RAN) to discuss assessment and accountability issues
  • Attend all meetings, or send a designee
  • Maintain a safe and trusting environment that supports collaborative discussion and decision-making
  • Begin and end all meetings on time
  • Stay focused on and come prepared to address agenda topics
  • Respect all ideas and opinions
  • Reach consensus using an agreed upon protocol
  • Share information from meetings with critical persons at each of our county offices and with appropriate personnel at school and district sites
  • Share assessment and accountability resources with other members

Goals of the Region 2 Assessment Committee:

  • To support the Goals of NERCC, emphasizing:
    • Goal 1, Objective C – Provide training and technical assistance for use of data to inform instruction for improved student performance.
    • Goal 2, Objective C – Build the leadership capacity of administrators, teachers, and paraprofessionals to understand and use formative and summative assessment.
    • Goal 3, Objective C – Facilitate and support development of a data analysis protocol to promote collaboration among stakeholders across sites, districts, and counties.
    • Goal 4, Objective C – Support the alignment of curriculum, instruction, and assessment through the use of research-based, scientifically validated, and rigorous strategies
  • In 2007-08, the Committee will work together to develop a Professional SMART Goal, and possibly a student achievement SMART goal based on regional data.
