The CCSESA Arts Initiative, sponsored by The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, is taking a leadership role in providing support, technical assistance, and services for teachers, administrators, and parents. The CCSESA Initiative is designed to build capacity and provide continued support to schools and districts by offering a full complement of services utilizing the statewide county office of education infrastructure.

The 2009-2010 year will bring a focus to the use of Art Assessment. A cohort of teachers from Region 2 will participate in a year long Professional Learning Community under the direction of Deb Brzoska from the Kennedy Center. Teachers will build lesson plans that integrate Art Assessment into visual and performing art lessons across the curriculum. This cohort will in turn work with Region 2 districts in the integration of art assessment as a component of a comprehensive curriculum.
