RSDSS is part of the Title I Statewide System of School Support (S4) required
under No Child Left Behind. The mission of RSDSS is to build a school district's
capacity to support its low-performing schools. This is realized through the
dissemination of information, technical assistance, and brokering of regional
and statewide resources. Our staff has content area expertise and experience
in group facilitation and effective school improvement strategies. Our
collaborative networks can link districts and schools to resources and
expertise from across the region, state and country.

Goal 1: PI LEAs and LEAs with large numbers or percentages of PI schools will have the capacity to engage in a process of inquiry (using state-developed tools and protocols), resulting in a revised LEA plan that supports student achievement and addresses identified needs.
Goal 2: LEAs with schools in PI Years 3, 4, and 5 will make informed decisions regarding mandated responsibilities specified in NCLB and will have the capacity to assist these schools to implement Corrective Action or Restructuring/Alternative Governance plans developed in accordance with NCLB.
Goal 3: RSDSS directors and their staff will be conversant in the latest research-based LEA and school improvement strategies and related regional and statewide resources. These strategies and resources will be brokered to meet the identified needs of PI LEAs and LEAs with large numbers or percentages of PI schools in an effort to prevent them from falling further into any year of PI.
RSDSS is mandated by the federal law, No Child Left Behind, to provide support services to Title I districts and schools in the following order:
1st priority - those Title I schools identified as being in Corrective Action (no Adequate Yearly Progress for four years),
2nd priority - those Title I schools identified as being in Year 2 (no Adequate Yearly Progress for three years) or Year 1 (no Adequate Yearly Progress for two consecutive years) of Program Improvement, respectively, and
3rd priority - those Title I schools needing assistance achieving the requirements of No Child Left Behind. (NCLB, Title I, Section 1117.a.2)
